many apologies for the sad state of updates on this site...
for those who might have been wondering, we are still alive and still working on this project! i remember several months ago feeling relieved when the notion struck me that this film doesn't exist on a specific timeline and will be done when we have finished it to our satisfaction. while this is very valid and brought about an extreme sense of relief at the time, i've needed to amend my thinking to bring me back to earth.
i don't dare speak specifics here, but i've changed tactics and have an end-date goal in mind to complete the project. this is good news for many of you who have so generously written encouraging words to us expressing your interest in seeing the finished film. your words are very appreciated and inspiring to us! thank you...
as for updates, the avid machine has been up and running for some time and is a constant cause for new book purchases, classes and much learning. additionally, i've purchased a camera for the project to allow for more flexibility and less rental fees moving forward. (a sony z1 for the tech/nerd inclined - me too) we're nailing down los angeles and seattle dates for the early new year to get some hindsight from the junos as well as flesh out some more history. hope to speak with many many folks. this project is a learning experience in legal and financial matters as well. we went for it and now we are sorting out the important details as we go. yikes.
we are also hoping to put something up in the streaming video category with everyone's blessing. more on that as it comes nearer fruition.
fyi - we still would love to hear from more of you, see your pictures, videos, hear your bootlegs, stories, memories, etc! i think it would be very cool if you sent us videos, webcams, etc of yourselves telling stories about or reflecting on your feelings about juno, their music, an incredible show you witnessed, etc. if we want to use something you send us and you are agreeable, we will contact you and work it out. don't be bashful; we are nice people...
once again - jon at junodoc dot com to reach me.

[ absentee: ]
well a lot has been going on in the past few weeks. we have received many encouraging words from some very kind people. we also have received an amazing outpouring of contributions from several people who are interested in or have been involved with the band. i cannot possibly do justice in words to these folks who have offerred their stories, photographs, videos and time to our project. it is truly a gift to hear from each of you and we appreciate all that you are doing!
we hope we continue to hear from other people who would be so generous with their own input.
this week i'm building a new avid machine to start digging deeper into the editing process. i feel like a child waiting on my birthday. there are also early plans afoot to do a little more travel and filming to capture some more interview footage for the project. i don't want to delay the project for those of you who are anticipating seeing the footage, but we want the film to be the best it can be.
we hope to be able to share some streaming footage on the site to tide you over in a little while.
don't hesitate to drop us a line. you can reach me at jon at junodoc dot com!

[ the beautiful conductor: ]
last week i fired up an avid session and assembled a quick, rough cut of you are the beautiful conductor of this orchestra, song one from the second night at neumos. william hudgins, from the filming crew, was kind enough to quickly mix down a rough version of the recording from protools for me the previous evening. while not a final version of the image or edits, this is a gratifying thing to do if you are working on a project. those from our crew who have seen it, were pleased to be able to get a taste of what they worked so long and hard trying to capture. their reactions seem psyched.
we rented panasonic dvx-100 cameras, lenses and tripods from a wonderful place in seattle called koerner camera. if any of you are ever in need of video or film equipment rentals in the seattle or portland areas, we recommend them highly! they're a pleasure to deal with and interested first and foremost in helping to get a project done with the available budget. i only plug them because they earned it. www.koernercamera.com
incidentally, sebastian stirling pointed out a couple of clips that have surfaced on you tube from the first night of the reunion shows. this footage is not ours, but worth checking out for fans that couldn't make it to the shows!

i hope to move into more serious editing with the new year. until then, feel free to drop us a line. i've added more contact information on the contacts page.
see you in the new year...

[ the first words: ]
just got back yesterday from my first visit to the beautiful city of seattle. we were lucky enough to spend the majority of last saturday and sunday in the company of the very generous juno.
when we heard about the kexp yuletide benefit show at neumos headlined two nights in a row by juno, we were just overjoyed with the prospect of being able to witness juno in action again. i wouldn't have believed two months ago that i would have twenty one minidv tapes in my hands today containing interviews with the band and contributors, as well as some beautiful footage of both nights of their tremendous live shows.
to call the members of juno generous is an understatement. to call this experience special and unforgettable, even moreso.
for those juno fans around the world that weren't fortunate enough to be in seattle this past weekend for these shows, we hope to have something special for you as well in the not too distant future. for the uninitiated, juno albums are available for order at http://www.desotorecords.com or for download from iTunes or http://www.insound.com.
anyone who may have any photographs, memorabilia, recordings, videos or memories that you would willingly share with us as we continue to work on this project, please drop us a line at the contact page. your input is invaluable.
that is all for now. check back for updates.
thanks,
jon mount
